Oxygen Builder vs Divi Builder

Oxygen Builder vs Divi Builder

So I have been a Divi user for years. Probably going on 8 if I think about it. Performance has always been a pain point especially when it comes down to Google PageSpeed reporting.  Even though you can get a site to perform well speed wise in actual use, Google PageSpeed can be hyper critical on items within the site.

Mobile Google PageSpeed Info

Divi Theme

Oxygen Builder

Examining how Divi does with Google PageSpeed performance, you can see that mobile gets a 37 rating and desktop gets a 86 rating. According to the before scan it reported that I could save almost 3.8s by reducing unused JavaScript usage.   While the After scan still reports this as one of the opportunities for improvement, the estimated savings was only .85s.

Desktop Google PageSpeed Info

Divi Theme

Oxygen Builder

Of course Google's PageSpeed report for Desktop is always better than what gets reported on the mobile report.  According to the before report, I could save .64s by reducing the unused JavaScript. There are no opportunities showing for the after conversion Google PageSpeed report.

Conclusion

While I love the Divi Theme and what it can do, as a developer Oxygen Builder is starting to grow on me. The fact that it takes a lot of the bloat out of WordPress's theme system and has been optimized to return a good Google PageSpeed is really impressive.  Divi does give the end user a slightly easier environment to use but overall I have found that client's don't want to be editing their site. If the client is worried about Google PageSpeed and you want to have WordPress as a backend then I would lean towards Oxygen Builder.
